Jim started his professional career in education as a teacher and coach in 1977. He taught and coached at UW-Platteville as well as the school districts of Park Falls, Dodgeville, Wausau, and Eagan, Minnesota, where he served as assistant principal and athletic director. In 2008, Jim was hired as principal at Lakeland Union High School in Minocqua, where he later became superintendent. He retired from that position in the spring of 2019.
After returning to Wausau in 2019, Jim was honored to be elected to the Wausau School Board. In the Fall of 2019, he was elected by the 34 districts in Region 5 as the Director of Region 5 for the Wisconsin Association of School Boards (WASB). In addition to a B.A and M.S. in Education from the UW System, he holds a Master of Arts in Education Administration from Marian University and an Ed.S. in Technology Enhanced Curricula from Argosy University in Eagan (Campus) Minnesota.
In retirement, Jim is enjoying substitute teaching, officiating basketball, working with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA – North Central Area), Road Tripping and visiting his grandchildren whenever they can.
Jim is married to his high school “sweet heart,” Deb (for 47 years). They have three adult children (Noel, Drew and Bonnie), two Daughters in law (Megan and Vanessa) and three grandchildren (Abram, Giovanna and Tirsah).
